Education, a top priority for Afghans

Advances in the world of science and technology have altered the future prospectives and objectives of many people around the world. Things are changing at its rapid speed. Everything we see in our surroundings are way more Sophisticated then the way they were a few years ago. Although, my argument is not how and why Afghans left/remained behind in such technological advances, in fact, the recent history of Afghanistan can response to that part of the argument; but, I am concerned about the present and future of  next Afghan generation and the lack of proper objectives they may choose achieve in their lives.

According to my close encounters with many Afghan youth, most of them are very influenced by imported reality or non-reality television shows and other subjective material that distract youth from the right path of their education. Such contents, mostly from neighboring countries have no futuristic values when it comes to the reality of life and living in an Afghan community. Unfortunately, Afghan parents failed to avoid merging their families into such waste-of-time adventures.

International community is a complex of countries that are very advanced in every aspect of life and living. They are capable of providing and transferring all sorts opportunities including foreign exchange students scholarships for Afghan young generation. Education for the very young men and women of Afghanistan is a topic that the whole donating world agreed upon. It is also proven by the international friends and allies of the people of
Afghanistan that they will never ignore or discard the education plans laid for the future of new Afghan generation. In addition, billions of dollars are set a side to help improve the educational structure of the nation.

After all these, what way chosen by Afghan new generation, being a singer, a Bollywood actor, or what the poor nation desperately needs. Let's put it in this way, Iran, a neighboring country has a ratio of 1:2 doctors, let the Engineers, and other professional members of the society apart. Afghanistan has a almost 1 Doctor for 2000 thousand Afghans.

There is nothing wrong with being a singer, an artist, or want-to-be an actor, but the problem is one should not dedicate the entire energy and life for such causes UNLESS there is a very promising vision felt and seen by the individual him/herself. The rest of our young generation must explore many other possibilities of their educational and social future. Also, everyone should bear in mind that Afghanistan lacks professionals in every field. Our professionals are either passed away, or resigned for their comfort. Politicians are hungry for their political future, there is no politicians seen striving to work for the betterment of future generation. Many of them are either severely corrupt, probably even stealing money from the funds that are alloted for the future of upcoming educational plans. Many others are ignorant to the fact that Afghanistan is in severe need of professional staffers.

Dear Reader!

This is our responsibility to convey messages that are based on reality, facts and warnings in regards to our future Afghan generation. The international community will not be in Afghanistan to help Afghans build sky-scrapers, underground metros, new airports, or run hospitals. We must encourage our new generation for being committed to their education so they can achieve excellence and advance in every aspect of their educational lives.

We also share the burden of responsibilities to reach out those who are interrupted, or held back by the traditions and illusions that have no religious, cultural or social value in today's world of science, advancement and technology.
