Afghanistan’s vibrant history reflects a patron of historical events which presents a chronological continuation of regions past and contemporary conflicts. History witnesses that Afghans have been very active in regards to the regions geopolitical issues. During the course of historical changes, an Afghan empire that would rule over a territory as wide as from Bukhara, (Present day Uzbekistan), to New Deli, India, and from Baluchistan and Mashhad (present day Iran) to Kashmir, has reduced to a present day Afghanistan.

Enemies to such Empire have had no courage to resist faze of fierce warriors, in fact, the Afghans did this to themselves. They would conquer a foreign land; stay for while without establishing a proper, legitimate and acceptable authority, they would abandon the entire campaign; and years after, they would re-occupy the same abandoned territory due the rise of insurgency. History also pinpoints Afghan empire’s deficiencies and vulnerabilities in very moving and apparent terms.

Since then blaming international community for every negative aspect of the regions conflict is totally unwise and based on unrealistic findings. In fact, the complexity of Afghan issue is more depending and caused by Afghans themselves. Afghans in either side of the front lines dragged this so called war on terror into their territories and door-steps. The conflict itself resigns to the best knowledge through the historical events in past three decades of Afghan history. One should turn into a few pages of recent Afghan history which mingles to the actual findings and is introducing consistency to above etiology.

In late 80s, when Soviet Union felt the taste of defeat in Afghanistan, time line turned into the benefit for adversaries to the Russian invasion. As predicted, shortly after the collapse of Soviet Union, Afghanistan bluntly fell into the control of war-lords. War-lord, the name itself explains and predicts the consequences, when it comes about power and control. Unfortunately, Afghans lacked the knowledge of such predictions. In a matter of 4-5 years, the already war ravaged country sunk into the a new type of urban warfare, since the war-lords wanted to test their war talents in urban streets and alleys of major cities such as Kabul, Mazar- e –Sharif, Jalalabad, Kandahar City, Konduz, Heraat, and Ghazni.

War-lords would fight for the control of a street, alley, village, section, square, building, and one can count. Human rights were severely ignored, innocent civilians either dragged into the war, or forced to leave their homes, major interprovincial or national highways blocked with extortion posts. And, the nation was basically ruled by geopolitically illiterate war-lords, power-lords, and drug-lords.

Eventually, such civil war caused massive casualties; and the national capital was brought into ruins. Worst then anything, the continuation of such disgusting era attracted international criminals who would advantage from others disadvantages.
After the embedment of such criminals into the Afghan warring factions, the conflict was not about Afghanistan any more. Afghan Taliban controlling almost the entire country, hosted, harbored, and housed such criminals; simultaneously they became part of the major criminal, brutal and international criminal organization. Even if Afghans (Taliban) were doing the Afghan-assignment of terrorizing, brutalizing, and radicalizing innocent Afghans, the severity of actual impact and involvement of this infamous organization already shocked the world and put Afghanistan into the scope of international focus which was pursuant to pull these criminals out of their caves, and put them in trial for the crimes they committed.

In social and economic fields, under such brutal and unprogressive regime, Afghanistan suffered enormous set back. Nations constitution was put on hold, all national treasuries were looted, and the regime itself was on the race to destroy every asset that Afghans would benefit from, including ancient tourist sites. Educational system was changed into an absolute religious self-study environment. The affects were severe and if one could never imagine the return of Afghanistan to a developing or progressed country.

By that time, this brutal regime of Taliban was accomplice to a crime against international community that the world will never forget, it was a right time for international community to intervene and stop this criminal gang. This is unfortunate that after nine years, the gang still lives, terrorizes innocent people, and murders so many others. The curiosity is, so little people inside, or outside Afghanistan condemns these brutal acts, compared to a technical mistake occurred, or may occur by international forces.

Evidently, Afghans must be grateful to the entire international community for putting Afghanistan back on track of development and progress, as well as, fixing the image of Afghanistan amongst international community when it comes to terrorist nations and brutal regimes. The point is that Afghans are mostly responsible for the most present day events taking place in Afghanistan. However, since the international community is on the ground to help Afghans regain their regional identity, the presence of developed nation in Afghanistan should be considered not less than a golden opportunity when it comes to reshaping, rebuilding, and reviving a better, prosper, and successful Afghanistan. On the contrary, according to some rumors circling in our around Afghanistan, that Afghanistan has untouched natural resources, or strategic importance are true but not to the capacity to pay off expenses of even a foreign military BATTALION, just to mention.
